Berman Garden

Berman Garden

A tribute to a remarkable woman, the Berman Garden celebrates Marilyn R. Berman, Ph.D. Dr. Berman served as Associate Dean of the A. James Clark School of Engineering from 1974-1996. She worked to diversify the demographics of engineers, encouraging women to enter the field, and was an influence to other institutions to follow her lead. This quiet spot tucked into the intersection of Kirwan Hall and Martin Hall provides a shady respite during stressful times. The garden has a signature willow oak dominating the landscape, as well as Ninebark 'Little Devil' and Carolina Allspice. Dr. Berman passed away in 2018, but her legacy lives on as a leader in inclusivity.
