Dwarf Buford Holly

Hollies in general are easy to cultivate and there are more than 400 species of Ilex. This cultivar of Ilex cornuta is ‘Dwarf Buford’ and among hollies, it has smaller leaves and does not fruit as heavily, although the fruit color is a lovely deep red. It’s a compact form of I. cornuta and does well in small landscapes. Proper pruning gives one the reward of seeing young green foliage against the dark green mature leaves.
