London Planetree

Platanus x acerifolia is a wonderful street tree for several reasons: it is easily transplanted; will tolerate poor soil, high pH, and pollutants; and will grow in full sun. This tree can be seen all over large cities like London and Tokyo. The cultivar ‘Bloodgood’ has a greater resistance to anthracnose, a common disease of planetrees, which we have seen on campus, and it also withstands soil compaction, heat, and drought.
