Terp Service Day
TerpService Days are one-time days of service targeted at connecting the campus and local communities. Students with significant or no experience in service-learning are welcome to participate. Student groups also enjoy participating in TerpService days.
The purpose of TerpService Days is to provide a welcoming and positive experience for UMD students to engage in service. By providing them with a meaningful service-learning experience, we increase the likelihood that the students will become more committed to service during their undergraduate career. Additionally, students become more connected to and mindful of the community around them.
The program consists of pre-service education, service and volunteering with a local community partner, as well as reflection activities. All activities are led by Service Day Coordinators; UMD students with leadership and service training.
Registration is done through OrgSync and open to any UMD student, student group, or class. All participants will participate in a brief educational orientation prior to their service experience and a reflection with their service team afterwards. The program includes a light breakfast and lunch and provides any supplies necessary for service sites.
We kindly request that students only register if they are 100% sure they can participate for the entire day of service, which lasts from 9:00am - 3:30pm. After registering via OrgSync, you will receive a confirmation e-mail to the address provided. Before the day of service that you have selected to attend, our Service Day Coordinator will send out an additional e-mail with more information on what to expect.
