Winterberry Holly 'Winter Red'

Winterberry Holly shrubs are native to eastern North America and Canada and are typically found in swamps, low woods, and along ponds and streams. They are most easily grown in acidic, medium-to-wet soils in full sun to part shade, with a tolerance for poorly drained soils. The 'Winter Red' is a female clone that needs a male pollinator to produce its noteworthy red berries. Its dark green leaves which turn yellow in the fall are accompanied by white flowers that produce the red berries that persist through the winter if pollinated. ‘Winter Red’ has exceptional winter fruits, both in color and number.
