H. Edward Reiley Azalea and Rhododendron Garden

H. Edward Reiley Azalea and Rhododendron Garden

The H. Edward Reiley Azalea and Rhododendron Garden was planted by UMD Students in the fall of 2011, on the grounds of the Arboretum Outreach Center on campus.

The garden is dedicated to the late H. Edward Reiley. Mr. Reiley received a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture and a Masters degree in Agricultural Economics from UMD. He was a member and past president of the American Rhododendron Society and the Mason-Dixon Chapter of the ARS, and was a renowned breeder of new varieties of azalea hybrids and rhododendrons.

The plants for the garden were generously donated by the Mason-Dixon Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society and in 2018, won the Prince George's County Beautification Award.
