Japanese Red Pine

Pinus densiflora is native to Japan, Korea, and parts of China, and was introduced to the US in 1854. Its value lies in being a specimen tree due to its interesting form as well as its orange bark. It’s also often used for bonsai. This tree has managed well in our clay soils here in Maryland. It also performs well as far north as Zone 3.
