Maryland Natives Shade Garden

Recently spruced up, the Maryland Natives Shade Garden - between Woods Hall and Francis Scott Key Hall along McKeldin Mall features native ferns, sedges, grasses, wildflowers and shrubs that grow within Maryland’s forests. These plants were grown from seeds collected during plant explorations conducted throughout Maryland. The garden serves to showcase the beauty of locally occurring native plant species that can be grown to support Maryland’s local ecology without much effort. New species were added in fall 2019 to increase biodiversity!
