We invest in people and communities
We invest in people, their well-being and advancement, and the conditions that support their ability to fully participate and thrive in our community, state, and world.
The Arboretum supports the sustainable efforts of the University of Maryland and its six goals to reach carbon neutrality listed here: https://sustainingprogress.umd.edu/progress-commitments/sustainability-council-goals

Walk with an Arborist & Your Baby
Walk with an Arborist & Your Baby encourages new parents to connect with each other and with the outdoors in a safe space, both physically and emotionally.

Sustainability in Action
We benefit from our partnerships with the UMD Extension, researchers, faculty and staff such as the Department of Plant Sciences and Landscape Architecture, and outside NGO’s. Read more about these collaborations below.

Dedicated Trees
Many trees have been donated to our Arboretum in recognition of a person, organization, or event. We are dedicated to their care and the memories these trees represent.

Tree Management Plan
Our tree management plan strives to meet a number of benchmarks with regards to our canopy cover. These are listed in the University’s Climate Action Plan and reflected in our work.
