Mowatt Circle is located at the intersection of Campus Drive and Mowatt Lane and is one of the main entrances to the University of Maryland. The garden in the middle of the traffic circle has been crafted to be one of our highlights on campus and vibrantly welcomes visitors to campus while supporting insects and birds. Over time, this garden has been planted with such pollinator-friendly plants such as leadplant (Amorpha canescens), threadleaf coreopsis (Coreopsis verticillata), lantana (Lantana camara), false sunflower (Heliopsis helianthoides), and goldenrod (Solidago altissima), among others. 'Testudo' Chinese Mint Shrub is a selection that was propagated in the University's Research Greenhouse Complex and was selected for more intense coloration of flower spikes. Bees seem to prefer the nectar on this selection quite a bit!
