Rain Gardens Installed at UMD Golf Course

Rain GardenThe University of Maryland Golf Course now features three rain gardens, completed this spring on Earth Day. With the help of grant funds from the Chesapeake Bay Trust, staff from the University's Building & Landscape Maintenance, Facilities Planning, and Student Affairs installed the gardens in three locations. On Earth Day, more plants were added by student volunteers in the Incentive Awards Program. The gardens will help the campus golf course manage storm water effectively and sustainably. An informative plaque at the site describes the function and design of the gardens, and the plants and wildlife found there.
