Two of the University of Maryland’s gardens have won county-wide recognition by winning the Prince George’s County Beautification Award. This award, managed by the University of Maryland’s Extension Service and the Prince George’s County Master Gardeners, is a free program to promote sustainable and beautiful landscapes throughout the county and is now in its 48th year. There are three categories, Residential, Community, and Commercial and the University took home honors in the Community category for the H. Edward Reiley Azalea and Rhododendron Garden on the grounds of the Arboretum Outreach Center as well as the Garden of Reflection and Remembrance at the Chapel. Both gardens are nurtured by dedicated Arboretum staff and the invaluable assistance of Arboretum interns and volunteers. We are very proud of this acknowledgment of our team efforts to provide a beautiful campus.
