Reisse Park
On the top floor of the Brendan Iribe Center for Computer Science and Engineering sits a rooftop garden dedicated to an avid outdoorsman and proud graduate of the University of Maryland.
Andrew Reisse (B.S. '01, Computer Science and Mathematics) was an avid hiker, rock climber, and photographer who loved to share his images of the natural world he experienced. His early childhood fascination with moving water and exploring the nearby forests and streams grew into a love of waterfalls -- the more remote and challenging, the better. As he traveled more, his interests broadened to include other landscape features from the coastlines to the mountains to the deserts. Andrew often took hundreds of pictures a day while hiking, sometimes from sunrise to sunset. Spending nearly all of his free time outside, he truly loved experiencing the natural world and capturing the beatufy with his camera to share with others.
Reisse Park boasts sweeping views of campus and the surrounding community as well as lush garden plantings, relaxing wood deck areas, and a beautiful waterfall fountain. The gardens are planted with vibrant colors, including iris, Japanese maples, catmint, yaroow, heuchera, and witchhazel.
